Meet
the Team
Craig H. Weinstein, MD, MPH
Dr. Weinstein is with SPORTS AND ORTHOPEDIC SPECIALISTS
and serves patients at Mesa General Hospital. He works with
a number of local high schools and sports organizations, including
the Gilbert Public School District, the Higley Unified School
District, and The San Francisco Giants. Dr. Weinstein’s
interests include shoulder, elbow, and knee problems as well
as athletic injuries in both adult and pediatric patients.
His research has focused on new treatments for cartilage injuries
of the knee as well as frozen shoulder and throwing injuries.
Dr. Weinstein received his Doctor of Medicine degree from
Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, and performed
his orthopaedic surgical training at the Mainonides Medical
Center in Brooklyn, New York. He then spent a year as a sports
medicine fellow at the American Sports Medicine Institute
in Birmingham, Alabama.
He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons,
the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and
the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Dr. Weinstein
was also awarded the prestigious Herodicus Traveling Fellowship
where he spent time with leading experts in sports medicine
to bring this world-class care to residents of the Valley.
Kathleen Lovato PT, MPT, ATC,
Physical Therapist and Director of Rehabilitation Services
Kathy received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Education
at California State University San Bernardino followed by
a Masters degree in Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University.
She is currently seeking a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree
from A.T. Still University.
Kathy is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association
and certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association.
Kathy’s current interests are orthopedic injuries and
sports medicine as well as neurological disorders and amputations.
Her work focuses on returning patients to function and restoring
independence.
Rhene Baker, PTA,
Physical Therapist Assistant
Rhene received her Associates of Physical Therapy from Penn
Valley Community College in Kansas City, Missouri in 1994.
Rhene also has a personal training certification from the
ISSA, aquatic certification from Arthritis Foundation and
is a member of the Aquatic Exercise Association.
Rhene’s current interests are aquatics, knee rehabilitation,
and myofascial release.
