The Acute Rehab Unit at Mesa General Hospital is a 19-bed "home-like environment" that provides a comprehensive physical and cognitive rehabilitation program designed to help our patients gain the highest level of function and independence after a disabling injury or illness occurs.

We believe strongly in the following when it comes to treatment:

  • Smaller is better- our small unit encourages a personalized one-on-one approach to serving our patients.
  • Patients deserve individualized care- a treatment plan specific to each patient’s unique needs is developed by the patient, physician, and their supportive clinical team.
  • Education is critical- family and patient education should always be used to build a bridge from hospital to home.

  • A Neurosychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of neurological and psychological conditions.
  • Physical Therapists who specialize in helping patients to regain strength, flexibility, mobility, balance and endurance, and to relieve pain.
  • Occupational Therapists who specialize in helping patients improve their ability to perform tasks of daily living in their working environments.
  • Speech Therapists who specialize in improving communication and cognitive skills in expression, comprehension and writing skills. They also assist with the diagnosis and treatment of swallowing disorders.
  • Rehabilitation nurses
  • Case Managers/Social Workers
  • Respiratory Therapists
